Australia China Art Foundation programs enable the development of international exhibitions, residencies, seminars, scholarships, internships, art exchanges and special events. We support artists and help build networks among arts professionals, cultural institutions and individuals. The overriding aim is to create a support network for the visual arts and encourage reciprocity within the region.
In March 2016, we opened our newest ARTS CAN DO center is based at the Songjiang District Supplementary School, a special educational school dedicated working with children with special needs and disability. The ARTS CAN DO program provides art workshops delivered on a weekly basis by our resident artists. These workshops aim to stimulate the children's creativity and provide a channel for them to freely express themselves. ACAF is building a long-term partnership with Shanghai Songjiang District Supplementary School. We aim to seek out and invite artists who have a keen interest in working with the community and can apply their creativity to developing thought provoking experiences for children with special needs.
ACAF is excited to announce a renewed community focus for our arts residency program. We are calling for artists with a specific interest in working with communities to contribute to ACAF’s very successful ARTS CAN DO program. ARTS CAN DO is an art based education project which aims to help disadvantaged children reach their full potential by developing life skills and confidence through involvement in art.

About ARTS CAN DO ACAF has launched a program of art as therapy - Arts Can Do - to bring artists to work with the children of migrant workers in isolated villages and in cities. The goal is to undo the damage done by lack of family life and help unlock children's minds, allowing them to develop normal emotional and cognitive responses to the world.
ACAF supports artists to engage in cross-cultural artistic exchange, produce new works for exhibition in China and Australia, and develop regional networks and understanding.
An opportunity to live and work in a studio at the heart of Beijing’s dynamic art district will be the inaugural ACAF artists residence award to be announced in July.
