From the children of Xucun, a remote mountain village in Shanxi province, to children from the poorest quarters of booming Shanghai come wonderful expressive and surprisingly joyous work.
At James Cohn Gallery Shanghai between 29 Oct - 4 Nov you will have the opportunity to see work by children who have taken part in Arts Can Do programs over the past two years. Also on show will be works by the Australian, Chinese and international artists who have helped the children find their own paths to expression. There will be video works and performance by the children at the exhibition reception on 2 Nov.
Sponsored by the James Cohan Gallery of New York and Shanghai and curated by prominent art critic and educator Shen Qilan the exhibition will be a fundraising auction event for Arts Can Do. Work by our children has already been seen nationally on Chinese television and fettered in previous exhibition.
Please come and visit the exhibition with your family and friends, support our work and in obtaining a glimpse into the world of some surprisingly hopeful and insightful children. We would like to invite you to join our fund raising auction on the 2 Nov and support us by buying arts, donating arts and other objects which will allow us to raise more funds needed to facilitate the Arts Can Do program.
